ONE WORLD ONE PEOPLE.
Just what create differences among the peoples of this world? What is it that equally draws them together and makes them one? It is a fact that there is variety in nature from the mineral kingdom, through the plant and animal kingdoms to the human kingdom. Yet still, there is unity. There is a general feeling that everything in this world is under the control of some unseen power.
Geographical differences, natural and artificial boundaries have divided up the world into continents, countries, states, towns, villages etc .Despite the fact that each human being looks glaringly different from the other, yet people have grouped themselves, by chance or by choice according to their skin color and ethnic similarities. There seems to be a bond of relationship among people of a particular color although enmity and discord are commonly found among this same group of people.
How strange it is that even two countries, whose people have the same color, speak the same language, have the same religious faith can see themselves as belonging to different countries simply because some selfish person created an artificial boundary between them! Is it also not strange that within one single country, the people can hypocritically believe themselves as one, when internally, they despise one another on the basis of religion, tribal characteristics, language differences and political affiliations!
Perhaps, these observations need not seem strange; for within a small family, a brother can destroy a sister for reason not easily comprehensible. Truly, many obvious factors confirm that people across the length and breadth of the world are not the same and can never be one. Though they have similar body and emotional characteristics, yet the levels of mental and spiritual development are not the same.
But cannot the people of this world recognize the fact that though they may be at different parts of the world, characterized by different modes of living, speaking different languages, having different skins, yet not one person knows how he or she came to live in that part of the world to identify himself or herself with that group of people?
People of this world continue to see many differences among themselves, violence and injustices are being perpetrated against one another and yet unconsciously, people seem to see something linking them. Of what use are the United Nations, the O.A.U., the E.U and many other world organizations which basically seek to unite the different nations together if people continue to see each other as different? All nations need each other.
The progress of the world lies in the joy of people living together as one people with the power of communicating and sharing with others. Today, the people of the world are recognizing the fact that events in any part of the world have their repercussions in every corner of the earth. Think of the dangerous consequences of one atomic bomb created by one single person in one corner of the world?
Think of what one good scientific discovery can do to all peoples. And above all, think of the Omni-presence of the divine intelligence whose influence is felt by all nations and is expressed through many kinds of religions which have but just one aim to recognize the presence of God and to strive to reach out to it. Think of the radiating power of the great world leaders and particularly divine apostles who are not recognized for their color. People love Krishna, Jesus Christ, the Buddha, Mohammed, to mention a few, mainly for the ideals they stand for and not for their skins or the place they come from.
Cannot our religious inclinations compel us to forget our color and see within ourselves as being neutral, as coming from the same source? How beautiful it is to see the pilgrims at Mecca coming from all parts of the world!
No matter the levels of material developments of certain nations, it is only the spiritual awareness of our oneness that can obliterate all color and ideological differences among the people of the world. It is this same awareness that can efface all artificial boundaries; all greed and selfishness; injustices and humiliations and lead the people to regain their lost paradise. It is this same awareness that can change the attitudes of all people, bring them to see that they are all one, though physically, mentally and spiritually different from one another.
