subject: World Of Warcraft - Original Models Feel Completely Out Of Place [print this page] Topic: Topic:
I just reached Uldum, and while the the art is fantastic there, it solidified a feeling that I have had for a long time, and I know others feel the same way too. The models for the original races in WoW no longer feel like they even belong in this game, they are so out of date compared to newer races the new world design and even the new NPC models.
When you stand a Night Elf beside Ysera it just looks sad. Like they are from two different games. It's like putting a Starcraft unit beside a SC2 unit. Once you peel away that layer of nostalgia of looking at the old art, you see how ugly and dated it truly is.
In my opinion this needs to be a priority for Blizzard, to bring our actual characters into the year 2011

Try playing a Moonkin. Tried that. Took one look at the Troll moonkin form and let out a guffaw so great my talents instantly reset.
Compared to any other MMO out there, WoW is the absolute WORST in terms of character customization and looks. The Worgen and Goblins are a step in the right direction. Human models definitely need a boost.
I really hope that updating the old models is on Blizzard's list. I'm sure it will take months and months of work, but I'd really like to see the changes sometime during this expansion. It's almost painful, the stark contrast between the new Cataclysm races and the vanilla race models.
Original models are fine. Why can't you people be happy with what you have and stop causing so much drama? Anyways they're in the game already so its not like blizz is gonna change them.
For me, the most obvious things are how my hair clips through my mustache, and for as long as I can remember running makes my cloak clip through my back. Otherwise I'm still pretty satisfied with my Gnome.
Im sorry but at the very least the Human model needs updating badly, they run like they have a stick up their butt, and if one doesnt have a full beard they look well "special" If they chose 1 race to update it would need to be humans
