Eating healthy is not something we are taught in school, nor is it something we pick up as we go through life. Rather, healthy eating comes from your own will to take care of the one and only body and life you will ever have. It is an education that you must go find, study, and implement into your daily routines. The good news is, it is something you can teach your loved ones and it is much easier than many people think. Yes, it is a lifestyle change and change can be scary but, with the proper information and guidance, you will be eating healthier in no time at all. Most people think that as long as they eat fruits and vegetables along with low-carb and low fat foods that they are eating healthy. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Don't get me wrong, this is much better than eating fast food all the time, but these foods are often packaged. Packaged foods are processed in high-fructose syrups and have tons of toxins and preservatives that do more harm than good to your body. Yes, this even includes canned fruits and vegetables.Does this mean you should steer clear of these types of foods, by all means you should. No, you should stay away from fruits and vegetables, but you should buy them fresh. Even frozen is better than the canned foods that so many fill their cupboards with. Rather than go through a list of processed and packaged foods that you should stay away from, there is a rule of thumb for truly healthy eating - if it is grown and/or harvested, it is good for you. Everything that comes from nature rather than a manufacturing plant is safe. When it comes to fruits and vegetables, this is easy, simply by your produce in the produce section of your favorite store. The other trick is trying to stay as organic and natural as possible. Most plants are treated with pesticides that are nothing but toxic for your body. This, over time, builds up and can actually hurt you, which defeats the purpose of eating proper foods. Organic foods, on the other hand, are not treated in this manner. In fact, no chemicals are supposed to touch these foods at all. Therefore, what you see is exactly what you are fueling your body with. This goes for meats too. Animals that are grain fed are much better to eat than those that are fed with corn and other processed foods. Look at your meals one at a time. Slowly start replacing your staples with organic, natural staples. Start eliminating high-fructose products with those grown from a tree or in the ground. If you slowly replace everything with organic foods you will find that you are eating healthier with a months' time. Remember, you should also treat yourself, otherwise healthy eating becomes any other diet rather than a lifestyle change. Eat all natural products 80% of the time and you will notice a great difference in the way you feel and the way you look.
