How To Get Two Dogs Out of A Car Without Having A Major Disaster

For starters, you should really consider taking your dogs in your vehicle with you aaaaaaaall the time. You might have figured out from my enthusiasm that I am in reality, a dog. I happen to be a 10 year old yellow-colored Lab and I absolutely love a nice ride in the car. Traveling in the car was initially all about me right up until my own boss brought back home an evil, horrifying brand new young pup. The evil puppy triggered hundreds of complications and 1 of them has been the best way for getting us both out of the car or truck at the same time without having somebody busting a bone. Owning more than one dogs may cause an issue when you take us in the vehicle when you do not prepare ahead a bit.

Before you take more than one dogs in your vehicle with you, generate a master plan about exactly how to get us both out of the car or truck. If you really don't have a strategy we probably will both bounce out as soon as the door to the car is open. This is going to be cause chaos. We all understand that I should really get to go out first, but the evil new puppy doesn't always appear to realize that. Typically the problem is the fact that being able to ride in your vehicle happens to be considerably more enjoyable than just about anything else, however getting out of your car or truck is ten times greater. We basically get way too enthusiastic to pay attention and do everything that you tell us to. Having several dogs this energized certainly helps make this a much larger issue.

You will find a couple of challenges brought about by having a pair of dogs that each want to get out from the car first. 1) During the commotion, we might get loose and roam into the next town (or worse, to the street). 2) We can fall over each other and tumble to the street (which I am quite certain will hurt. Although (cue the school marm voice) I'm pretty certain we're supposed to be within a dog crate or a dog seatbelt when we are in the car. Shhhh, never tell our veterinarian about this because we get to be in the center seat in our SUV. Don't tell the boss either because I do not want to ride inside the crate.

The actual solution to this particular problem is the headrest for the front seat. Whenever you open up the rear car door so that you can let us out, make sure you quickly move in front of the open door to block our exit. You have to stay as close to the vehicle as possible and you will need to shut the door a little bit if possible. You may have to set your own foot up in the section where your feet go in the vehicle. I was sort of amazed by the evil new puppy and just how she has been able to squeeze through just about any small opening that she saw so you should be really attentive to block the exit.

Here is the plan:

*Open the vehicle door and instantly block the exit.

*Connect the two dogs to their own leashes. Do not use a double leash here, somebody can get hurt.

*Make a decision on who will get to go first. (I feel the old dog should go first, however I could very well be partial.)

*Wrap the lead of the evil, I mean 2nd dog around the headrest for the front seat.

*Keep the leash tight so that they can not jump out of the car.

*Tell the first dog to go - by their name. "Baylor-go"

*As soon as the first dog is out of your vehicle and away from the landing area, tell the other doggie to "Stay" (for control)

*Unwrap their leash

*Tell them to go - by name. "Scout - go"

Yes, my own name is actually Baylor and the bad other puppy dog is Scout.

I need to say that this isn't simple and easy to master, however just like everything else it can be accomplished with persistence, repetition. I used to be concerned that the evil new puppy was going to leap on me. Today it seems to be fairly non eventful. Getting two dogs is a good thing but you will discover things that can cause problems. Training the dogs to get out of the car in a somewhat organized manner will eliminate the worry and chances for injury.
