Lotus used cars like the Elise are very light and very fast. So it was no surprise that the automaker has found ways to keep this sports car light and fast as they did when they were racing in the 60"s and 70"s in "Formula One". They were well known in "Formula One" circles to circumvent the rules. The Elise weighs in at 1984 pounds and can run at speeds of 150 miles per hour. Lotus uses a Toyota 1.8-litre, four cylinder engine.

The Lotus Elise has a very special innovated body that combines materials like "glass fibre" and "polyester-resin". The chassis has 27 aluminum alloys" that makes it very strong. What makes the body and chassis so unique is, there are no welds to the vehicle, they use a special bonding technique that several well known aerospace companies you on there jets. Once put together it only weighs about 140 pounds but very strong and durable.

The Elise only comes in a manual transmission; there is no power steering and stability control. Lotus used cars like the Elise do come with ABS brakes and you can order the "traction control system" and "limited slip differential" as an extra.

The suspension on the Elise is fully independent with double wishbones on all four corners of the vehicle. This lotus comes with "Biltstien" mono-tube shock absorbers which uses gas and the coil springs are from "Eibach". The tires are specially made for the Lotus Elise; it uses the "Advan Neova AD07 which is made by Yokahama. The brake discs are very small, there are a cross drilled rotor that are on the rear and the front of the vehicle. The brake discs are well known to handle any type of braking situation the Elise has to offer.

This lotus sports car offers customers with 20 different paint jobs and all come with the Alpine AM/FM/XM stereo. This vehicle is very small and hard to get into if you over six feet tall, but a lot of fun to drive because of how low and fast it is to the ground.
