Three Great Healthy Recipes That Will Help You Keep Off The Holiday Weight!

Keeping off the holiday weight is all about the choices you make during the many

parties, and get-togethers you will be attending this year! If you prepare

healthier dishes to blend in with the traditional ones, you are giving yourself

and others healthier choices!

Here are a few tasty recipes that are simple to prepare and you and your guests

will love!

Steamed broccoli- with garlic and butter (yes butter, not margarine). For a

party of 8: Take eight to ten cups of fresh broccoli (chopped with stems). Put

them in a pot with the bottom covered in about 1/3 inch of water. Bring to a

boil and steam for about three minutes. Drain the water but keep the broccoli in

the pot and return to the stove on low heat. Add one clove of minced garlic to

the pot and about tbsp of butter (unsalted is better for you) along with a

pinch of sea salt. Gently mix the garlic through and let the butter melt. Serve

hot.

Fruit Salad- To be served after dinner with desert. Combine apples, grapes,

bananas, oranges and red grapefruit together in a bowl. The amounts of each are

entirely up to you. Remember that the sweetness of the apple, grapes, bananas

and oranges balance out the bitter taste of the grapefruit.

Black Bean Dip- Great, healthy appetizer! For this recipe, combine the following

ingredients together: 1 can of sweet corn, drained, 1 can of black beans, rinsed

well and drained, 1 ripe avocado, chopped, 1 small red onion chopped, 1 large

tomato chopped, 1 tbsp of minced garlic, cup of olive oil, and cup of

balsamic vinegar. Serve with whole grain nacho chips.
