subject: Shelving By Design: Styles, Colors And Sizes That Work [print this page]

My friend Michael stopped his annoying questions after looking into shelving by design at my suggestion. In addition to a wife and two new-born babies, Michael recently purchased a house. Both Michael and his wife needed room for all the books they'd accumulated during graduate school in preparation for careers as university professors. Shelving by design provided a safer alternative, for a home with infants, to conventional bookcases and high shelving.

Their books had remained in boxes because Michael's wife, with an eye for interior decor, had refused to use Michael's large, oaken shelving. Their love for books, and the necessity of referring to many books for their careers, demanded easy access to a large portion of their literature. Without an organized way of retrieving books during their first semester of teaching, Michael's wife turned to samples of shelving by design which she positioned around the room. The safety of her children, her requirement for feng shui conformity, and adherence to modern design were all addressed by the shelving.

The only problems they encountered after researching new options for shelving were the exponential amount of artistic possibilities. The task of measuring rooms and shelving areas fell to Michael, the research was left to his wife. After opening the door to the many options of shelving by design, Michael's wife began her journey of discovery and installation, and I stepped out of the way. Sleek white shelving, in various sizes, to line the walls and house the books was her final choice.

After my suggestion to Michael and his wife's approval, I didn't have to loan him the shelving in my office anymore. Michael's wife has had many compliments on her new furniture, and I've been thanked many times for the recommendation. I don't let her know that my shelving by design receives twice as many compliments.
