There are days when we just don't want to face responsibilities and we all have those days. Too many of these days can be a sign of procrastination. The big fear is that people often look at procrastination as nothing more than a habit. Once you take a look at what this can cost you it may be a different story.
Procrastination can be rampant at your place of employment You may find that your procrastination habits affect you at work. If this happens too much you could be terminated. You may stall at finishing your reports till they pile up. You may find yourself making excuses to your boss. You may be just squeezing through on getting the minimal tasks done. If you were not a procrastinator your work performance would be far better quality. It could then mean you would have a chance of moving up the corporate ladder.
Procrastination can ruin you financially Paying bills when due is an important responsibility. Bill paying for a procrastinor often means bills never get paid on time until the bill collectors show up at the door. This is not done because they don't want to pay, it's simply they don't want to put the effort into doing the task. Although it may not seem at the time that significant, it can ruin their financial credibility in the future. Procrastination can lead to a dim financial future.
Often individuals have many opportunities in life that just simply past them by because their habit of procrastination has stood in the way of potential financial success. Sometimes an individual will constantly put off seeing an old friend and then the day comes where that friend is no longer here. This is heart wrenching for the procrastinator. There is much that can be done to make procrastination a thing of the past, and the first step is not putting off actions to help beat this habit until tomorrow. If you are a procrastinator face this fact and take that first step to be a "once was" one. It is never too late. Remember you may be a procrastinator, but you are not powerless, you have the ability to change your life around.
I can personaly testify that breaking the habit of putting things off can be one of the most liberating experiences of all. I used to have some wonderfull ideas and aspirations that somehow just didn't materialise. I took the plunge and started taking things one step at a time, baby steps. I set myself small goals to start with, even some thing as simple as cleaning out a cupboard. Eventualy I naturally built up to bigger ventures, and I have never felt so good.
