In one of your art classes back in school or during one of the holiday seasons in your childhood, you may have made print cards for distribution among your friends and family members. The process may have been relatively easy. Using available paper stock, you cut it to make a greeting card and then use your coloring materials to make the design covers.

You then write down your message and then seal it with your signature. Now that you are older, you can create your own print cards and make it at par with those being offered by professionals. There are design software and computer applications available that can enable you to create one-of-a-kind print cards. You can make these print cards at home or in your workplace. You do not also have to waste a huge amount of money for making print cards. You can just make use of available paper stock and mailing envelopes. If you have time, you can make these envelopes, too. If you are not familiar with the steps on how to make print cards, do not fret. Here are the steps on how to make print cards:

- Get the paper stock ready. You may want to set the measurement for your print cards first. Basing on the paper stock, you decide on the width and length of your print cards. You can use non-standard shapes and sizes for your print cards. The pattern for which, however, will be laid out on your personal computer.

- Open your personal computer and choose the design software or computer application you are going to use. You can choose from one of the basics, Microsoft Publisher, or make use of Adobe Photoshop and Corel Draw, among other similar applications. Make a new document and set the measurement you have set for your print cards.

- Include different design elements on your print cards to make it visually appealing and interesting. Consider though your target receivers. You can make use of images to make your print cards pleasing. If you do so, make sure that the images are of high resolution. Otherwise, always remember that the print cards will be pixelated.

- Write your message and proofread it. On a scratch of paper, draft your message first. Once you have finalized your message, then that is the time you can put it on your card template. Make your print cards interesting by using different font styles. You can download these font styles over the internet. Make sure that the font style you use works well with the other design elements.

- Test-print your print card to know if the design template is more or less full proof. Check your test print to determine if there are changes you need to make. There may be flaws in the formatting, indentations, and page bleeds.

- Print full color for your print cards. Invest on full color ink. Make sure that your desktop printer has enough ink to print the number of cards. Another option though for you is to bring the design template to a commercial printer for mass production. In this way, you can be assured of quality prints.
