subject: The Three No's For Renting A Vehicle [print this page]

Everyone will advise you what to do any time you're looking to rent a car yet the list of donts is much more imperative, quite simply because these are missteps which people make everyday and can be incredibly pricey. For your next rental vehicle make sure to remember these three donts and you will be on your way to a wonderful rental experience.

Do not be rushed through the process of renting your car. If you feel as if you're being rushed through the reservation process by a rental agent who really doesnt want to take the time to explain what your base rental price does or does not include then go elsewhere. Any company thats worth its weight in salt will let you know precisely what to expect and how much it's going to include with all the extras so do not just walk away knowing the base price as this might lead you to believe that you're paying less than you really are.

Dont sign your rental agreement without reading it. Too many people go into a vehicle rental trusting that the reservation agent has told them everything they need to know about their rental. The fact is anything which is said or isnt said by the rental agent means nothing if it is not written into the contract that you sign. While most companies are upfront about what the rental does and doesnt include you wont know for sure unless you take the time to read the total rental agreement.

Dont pick up or return your vehicle at an unattended location. This may be easier said then done but it's imperative to have someone there to help note the condition of the vehicle both when you are picking it up and when you're returning it. This will help to ensure that any harm to the vehicle is recorded not only by you but by their employee as well. You might be tempted to pick up from an unattended airport rental agent or to drop off after hours but this should be avoided if at all possible.

Remembering these three donts of vehicle rentals will help you to make the most out of your car hire experience. And whether you are taking a rental for a day or a month and whether you are taking it for business or for pleasure you are going to find that following these rules will help you to have the best possible rental experience with limited hassles.
