subject: How Do You Know Which Entertainment Option Is Best For You? [print this page]

When talking about home entertainment, there are really numerous options these days. There are numerous unique products going after your hard earned cash that it is often challenging to select what is the best thing to invest in. Well, to start with, you should determine what is the most important thing that your family would want.

Are they more interested in viewing movies or playing games? Irrespective of what you choose in the end, if you are serious about home entertainment then you really need to begin with a good television. You dont have to own the largest television or the most advanced and latest version of the television. All you have to do is purchase something that is suitable for your family. Where is the television going to be viewed?

If the room is not very large, somewhat small, then you will not require a huge television that dominates the whole length of one wall. If you are going to use a bigger room with seating farther away from the television, then you should consider a bigger television. But even then, you are presented with many diverse selections for each kind of viewer and different sized budgets.

Of course you can determine everything just by the size of the television, but there are various other factors to keep in mind. You will need to identify what the refresh rate is on the television. The greater the number, the better the graphic is when viewing live events and fast moving events such as athletic events and action movies. The following thing that you must know, especially if you are buying a television over 32 inches is the resolution. You can have multiple resolutions that are all deemed HD, but for larger televisions you must make sure it is advertised as 1080.

There are a couple of variants of 1080, like 1080i and 1080p, but for the majority of people, it wont matter. Just make sure the box is labeled with a 1080 somewhere. With this you can be sure that you are getting the best graphic that you can get. Any more in depth than that and you are simply getting technical and for 99% of buyers, it will not matter. The next thing that you must look at is the inputs and outputs for the television. You will certainly want to ensure that there are a number of HDMI inputs for hooking up future components.
