Thirty years ago it was Sean Connery, 20 years ago it was Bruce Willis, and ten years ago it was a slew of actors who used their good looks to make some money on the side selling sugary snacks or overpriced designer jeans. Every decade seems to have an iconic celebrity to personify what sexy is. Last year Audi chose Justin Timberlake to be the sexy face of its brand. Wilton Audi A8 dealers believe he will continue to reach new buyers in an age bracket a bit younger than the average Audi owner.
This year, the Audi A5 was awarded the Best "Sexy Styling" Vehicle award for a premium brand in the annual Motorist Choice Awards. Now since these awards are determined by surveying more than 42,000 customers, it's possible that Mr. Timberlake did influence their perception of the Audi brand - not that it isn't sexy on its own.
Audi garnered an award for another model as well. The Audi A6 got the nod for Best "Country Club" Vehicle for a premium brand. Apparently the worst criticism of the A6 was that it looked a bit like the A4. Not exactly an insult. Audi engineers should be proud. Weston used A8 buyers will appreciate both models.
So one of our all-time favorite boy band members is hawking the A5, which is also, along with the A6, winning awards based on customer satisfaction. Audi is on the right road to pleasing consumers. Perhaps they need to sign Lady GaGa to dance on a less popular model and increase sales.
Auto Pacific President George Peterson summed up Audi's attraction, "Many auto enthusiasts are passionate for Audi's attractive and sleek, sexy designs. The Audi A5 definitely turned heads for its great style. The Audi A6 . . . Was shown to truly represent its owners - well-to-do, educated, financially savvy and frequent travelers." Whether this is a broad representation of Audi buyers can't be determined without actual demographics data, but it certainly may be true for that model.
Wilton Audi A8 buyers also appreciate the features of the A5 coupe with its sweeping lines and well-thought-out cabin layout, not to mention the luxurious details. Features like quattro all-wheel drive and eight-speed Tiptronic transmission make this a truly fine vehicle. Let's not forget the tech features like HomeLink and Bluetooth.
So whether Justin moved you to by an Audi A5 or just an old CD, Weston used A8 customers should consider the new Audi models on their own merit. For driving pleasure, elegance and safety Audi is difficult to top. And so is Justin Timberlake. It will be interesting to see if Audi has seen an increase this year in female buyers.
