Son's Discovery of Bird Nests and Eggs Inspire Second Book

Schelli Olmanson McCabe's fourth son was too young to be a part of her first published book, The Great Caterpillar Adventure, so when he discovered bird's nests with eggs inside around their yard in Southern Minnesota and wanted to know what type of bird they belonged to, the idea for a second educational book about nature evolved. This inspired the creation of McCabe's second chilren's educational nature book, The Great Bird Adventure, the perfect follow-up to The Great Caterpillar Adventure.

The three youngest McCabe boys posed for each scene in The Great Bird Adventure , creating photographs which Michelle Depuydt based the books' illustrations on. Each page includes a story about the bird, its nest and a colorful illustration to keep the child's attention. The identificaiton chart in the back of the book, makes an ideal resourse for children to take to their own yards and find their own adventures.

Depuydt's colorful and accurate illustrations of the birds, nests and eggs, make it easy for young readers to identify nests and eggs they find in their own yards and learn what kind of bird they belong to. The result is a very fun and educational resource that will be cherished by the family for ages.

The Great Bird Adventure is a book about discovering different birds nests and eggs, and learning what types of birds they belong with. It includes a story, an explanation of what happens inside an egg, bird facts, and an identification chart of birds and their nests and eggs to help children with their own bird adventures.
