Muhammad violated some 100 established customs (5) do not listen, do not obey
Study of the pre-Islamic social, religious, customs, rules and laws is mandatory to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts done by the Prophet Muhammad who kept correcting anything wrong.
In this series, the Prophet Muhammad has disobeyed and violated some 100 established customs, issues, rules and laws that were wrong, false and flawed; as an alternative he has corrected and replaced them with some 100 well-known customs, issues, rules and laws that are right and valid up to the moment.
The fifth issue: do not listen, do not obey
The Arabs before Islam were too proud; they lived with their pride and superiority feeling to the extent that they would not listen to or obey the others, even if the others were correct.
They considered the listening and obedience kind of humiliation, shame, disgrace, embarrassment, dishonor and inferiority.
People like that are candidate of social failure.
The Prophet Muhammad gave them many practical lessons about listening to the others and taking the other opinions.
He used to ask his friends, what you think about this or that; and He used to listen to many opinions and to pick up and carry on the best opinion.
These lessons were practical not theoretical and the Prophet Muhammad himself applied such lessons.
In addition, the Quran commanded the believers to Listen and obey.
Verse 8:46
QARIB: obey Allah and his messenger and do not dispute with one another lest you should lose courage and your resolve weaken. have patience Allah is with those who are patient.
SHAKIR: and obey Allah and his messenger and do not quarrel for then you will be weak in hearts and your power will depart, and be patient; surely Allah is with the patient
PICKTHAL: and obey Allah and his messenger, and dispute not one with another lest ye falter and your strength depart from you; but be steadfast! lo! Allah is with the steadfast.
YUSUFALI: and obey Allah and his messenger; and fall into no disputes, lest ye lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering: for Allah is with those who patiently persevere:
