Thinking about Anabolic Steroids?
Thinking about Anabolic Steroids?

Bodybuilders wanting to build more muscle often wonder whether the use of steroids is the next move. There is no doubt that if used properly steroids can bring muscle gains. But when is the right time to start using anabolic steroids? I would say the general rule of thumb is to be as close to your natural potential with the combination of a good training plan, diet and appropriate rest. And of course the most common tip thrown about amongst bodybuilders/weightlifters is that the individual should be at least 21 years. Don't get me wrong I believe that the longer you can stay natural the better. But this would be slightly hypocritical as I ran my first cycle at the age of 19 and to say I had already reached my natural potential would be a lie. Do I regret it? No. And if you are already researching steroids the chances are that the majority of you are likely to take the plunge with or without proper research. So for those who feel they are ready for a steroid cycle and ready to move their training regime and muscle gains to the next level It is essential you acquire the right information. So what important advice can I offer you?

Research the term Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) an essential part of your steroid cycle and ensure you understand at the very least the correct use of nolvadex (tamoxifen), clomid (clomiphene citrate) and HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin)

Keep the first cycle mildly short (8-10 weeks) staying on a steroid cycle for too long makes recovery harder.

Keep it simple and use one drug. Your first cycle will be your best and you will grow regardless therefore there is no need to fill your body with more than one compound. I recommend testosterone, preferably a longer ester such as enanthate, cypionate or even sustanon.

Keep control of estrogen - A nasty side effect of injecting certain steroids is levels of estrogen can increase which can cause gynecomastia (better known as "man boobs" or "bitch tits") This can be controlled by running an AI (aromatase inhibitor) throughout the cycle or at least having some on hand in case of these side effects occur.

Understand that steroids are not the magic answer and should not be abused. There are many long term health issues caused by prolonged steroid abuse such as infertility and depression. However, if used sensibly there is no reason why you cannot continue to build muscle whilst staying healthy

Train hard, eat well and don't forget to rest. Just because you're taking steroids does not mean you should start weightlifting twice per day. The same rules apply to natural and assisted bodybuilders.
