Tips for a Better Singing Voice

Most amaturess have a habit of holding breath. It may happen due to nervousness or just a lousy habit. Most of them don't know when to take breaths and so keep it like a "reserve"? Figuring out why might help...

Like any bad habit, you need lots of repetition to get rid of it. You should dedicate some practice time to just paying attention to when you're holding your breath, and stop doing it whenever you realize. If you don't know when you're doing it, you can get a friend who can signal you when you do it.Do lip buzzes(motor boats) scales(Do Re Me...). Do a siren type thing where you go "Wooo" up and down your whole range...you can look more up online...but i suggest you try to join choir if possible.

After some time singing, breathing should come somewhat naturally in most cases. Since you're used to holding your breath, you might need to consciously go through the song, line by line, phrase by phrase, and figure out when you want to breathe in. Write it down if you need to. For each line, sing it, and make sure you have the air for it. After singing a line, breathe out and then back in for the next line.

It is true that reaching a high pitch is easier for some than for others. It can be tough and easy dependent on your individual singing skill. When you have just started to learn singing, do not expect to hit those high pitch notes initially with ease. There is a novel approach used by many professional singers to hit those high pitch notes. This is done by stepping up to the high note by singing all the way through the notes in between.Done in a rapid fashion this is only detected by the most well trained ear. This is the trait mainly of a classical or opera singer and is one reason when you learn singing that you attempt to cover a bit of all styles.

It might help if you breathe on rhythm. When you're about to sing a line, you might breathe in on beat 3 or 4 of the music before that line. I find this also helps with timing when you start singing a line. Be prepared for the times you know you need to breathe in - and breathe OUT before breathing in! I know when I sing, a lot of times I'll have more air for a line in the song than I need, so when it ends I breathe out all the extra air and then breathe in deeply again. It helps keep that feeling of rhythm going. Learn more how to do it here

Try copying different styles of different artists, and listen to how that sounds with your voice, y'kno, experiement. All you have to do is find that style :).All you need 2 do is practice. Let different people hear your voice, give you tips, and no matter what, NEVER give up.
