I have been a Windows user for over twenty years. In fact, I even saw Windows version 1 when I was at University! Over the years, Microsoft Windows has been a significant part of my personal and professional life. I've cut, I've copied, I've pasted and navigating the menu structure has been second nature. But the iPhone has changed all that.
Having never owned a Mac, or an iPod before the iPhone I have found it difficult to embrace iTunes as a traditional windows user. Twenty years of clicking my way intuitively through applications has gone out the window. iTunes is not intuitive to the old Windows user. It's hard to find what to do. Us Windows users need wizards and simple menus, not to mention an application that looks like it sits in a proper window rather than hovering somewhere midscreen.
iTunes seems to be all about music and videos. But to me, that is just one part of my iPhone. What about all my text messages and contacts. Can I manage that information at all within iTunes?
So Apple, please take care of us old Windows users. We have not grown up with iMacs on our desks or iTunes synchronising our iPods. We need a traditionally standard Windows interface to help us drive our iPhones and our iPads. It needs to be simple and intuitive. We need to know where all the information is stored, so we do not accidentally synchronise our entire music library up on to the Corporate Network and share it with the world.
Thank goodness the iPhone is so easy to use. If you need tips on how to use the iPhone, or even the odd tip on iTunes, download this eBook which will help you use the iPhone and iTunes more effectively
