Himachal Pradesh came into being as a state on January 25, 1971.The word Himachal means 'Land of Snow'. Traditionally this region has strong connections with its neighbors Tibet and here one can see cultural and religious similarities in these two places. Most of the people of Himachal reside in villages and small towns. These villages have simple living and are satisfied with whatever little they have to fulfil the basic necessities of life. The largest crowd of the people can be seen on Dussehra.
