subject: Things To Learn From Your Past Dates [print this page]

So you have been on dates which have not been as successful as you would have liked them to be. Well that happens. Often it is the combined pressure of meeting a new person as well as impressing them on the initial date itself.

Now that a few dates have gone by, you can relax and stop trying TOO hard to please your partner. Be comfortable and be yourself. Your partner will only be as relaxed as you will make them feel.

These are a few things you can do to make your dates better than the previous ones

Enjoy yourself. It's a known fact that only if one enjoys, only then can they draw out other people in their company to have a good time. Let the tension go and have a good time. By doing this you will ensure that your date too has a great time with you.

Select the venue for the date even more carefully. While initially you must have met in a pub or an active coffee shop, now gradually start going for a movie or to a more intimate location. By going to places which are relatively quieter you can now enjoy the conversation and revel in each other's company.

Become more comfortable in your dressing. If earlier you were power dressing to impress tone it down to smart casuals. It is pertinent for your date to know that you are relaxing around them. Don't however turn up in baggy jeans and a sweatshirt as that is the mark of being sloppy and not relaxed.

Exude confidence and keep up an interested smile. Follow up dates are more important as they determine the personality of a person which is generally not completely gauged in the first few dates.

If your past few dates have all been at your interest points then ask your date for a suggestion for the next one. Ask her/him where they would like to go for the next date and what would they like to do. This interest taken in them will make them understand that you are genuinely interested.

Give your date a new piece of information about you or relate a new anecdote each time. It is very important to keep your date looking forward to each new one with equal enthusiasm.

Never, ever push your date for anything She/He might not be comfortable with. Always take things slowly and remember that patience is the key to a lasting relationship.

Moderate the amount of talking you do and start angling towards listening more. Your date will be pleased to know that you are a good listener.

However, many dates you go to always, remember to be mannerly, interested and focused.

First impressions are well and good but if you want these dates to translate into a relationship you will have to make an effort to be humorous, charming and entertaining at all times.
