On 25-November-2010 there is a day that remembers and traditionally celebrated as "Thanksgiving Day", it celebrated annually on the fourth of Thursday of November in United States, it also celebrated in Canada but on the second Monday of October. Basically it is religious observation to give thanks to "GOD".

Family members together for this day. They share Happiness with each other. People celebrate different things. It's a four day weekend holiday for a lot of people from their work and children from their school etc.

Children specially enjoy this holiday, they not only get a huge meal with all the family members but also they get four days of cartoons, sleeping late, games, etc. Peoples give thanks to each other.

True meaning of this day is Thanksgiving especially when the current year has been better than past year.

There are some traditional celebrations of Thanksgiving Day like as:

Vacation and travel:

There are 4 or 5 day vacation for school, colleges business and government workers, And this become one of the biggest and busiest travel period of the year case of many workers, college students and others return to their hometowns to reunite with friends and family.

Giving thanks:

Basically this is a religious day, to give thanks to "GOD" for common purpose. In 1541 thanksgiving after the expedition of Coronado safely crossing part of Texas, and in 1777 thanksgiving after the victory in the revolutionary battle of Sara-toga, become the reason of all community members to give thanks to "GOD". There are various forms of giving thanks to GOD that are continued. Religious and spiritual organizations offer services and events on Thanksgiving at the end and before of the day.

Foods (Thanksgiving meal and Dinner):

From 1621 this holiday held with meal by the Wampanoag and the Pilgrims who settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts, since that time it continued with meal and thanksgiving dinner. Families and friends usually gather for a large meal or dinner at Thanksgiving Day. There are many meal cooked for this day but especially turkey made recipes are playing a lager role in the celebration of thanksgiving. Before and after these meal and dinner people give thanks to "GOD". There are many turkey recipes for serving. (Turkey is the largest bird of North America. The male (approximately 18 pounds) is substantially larger than the female (approximately 8 pounds). They average 3 1/2 feet in length with a wingspan of 4 3/4 feet.)

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is the part of this day, it held in New York City for 3 hour start at 9:00 A.M EST. It starts in 1924. It live telecast on NCB.

There are many sports at the Thanksgiving Day; Specially American football is most important part of this celebration. Professional games traditionally held on Thanksgiving Day. These played during the week apart form Sunday or Monday night. NFL played its game on this day since its creation. College basketball tournaments take place over Thanksgiving weekend. Golf, auto racing, The Turkey Night Grand Pix automobile race, and many other games played at Thanksgiving Day. Mostly are televised on EPSN2 and ESPUN.

Television and radio also play a role on Thanksgiving Day. NBC currently carries the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and also carries the National Dog Show after the Macy's Parade. CBS coverage the Macy'S parade and NFL game. On radio music station switch on of full-time, various formats songs of Thanksgiving Day, and the Story about Thanksgiving Day switched.

Black Friday 2010:

Black Friday is a Friday after Thanksgiving Day in U.S, traditionally it is the beginning of the Christmas shopping. Black Friday is the first shopping day after Thanksgiving Day. Mostly retailers open extremely early, open at 5AM or even earlier. Some big retailers such as Walmart, Target, Sears, Best Buy etc open as early as midnight on the start of Black Friday and remain open for 24 hours until midnight the following Saturday, and offer doorbuster deals and loss leader to draw people to their stores.
