We live part-time on Corfu and have family in Parga. This means that we have, over the past 4 years, stayed in various places, from "tourist pensions" to "deluxe apartments". Sadly, thus far, none have really ticked all the boxes or warranted a second visit.
This October we selected the Hotel Sol, and from now on, we won't be staying anywhere else.
The first important box to tick was private parking (Parga doesn't have much in the way of parking spaces), but the hotel gained top marks straight away, cars are parked securely underground.
The hotel is situated as close to the beach as you can get and the sea facing rooms boast simply wonderful views. The hotel beach/pool bar (open to non-residents) offers comfy sofas, good priced, chilled white wine and some of the best people watching opportunities in Parga.
Rooms and bathrooms are spotlessly clean, well appointed with good beds, and depending on the room location you can take advantage of the hotel's complimentary WiFi and/or the free service provided the Dimos.
Breakfast is simple, traditional Greek fare, but we have to say that we had some of the best cooked-to-order omelets we had ever tasted!
The weather was lovely during the first 3 days of October, so we took full advantage of the gardens/pool area, and although the pool was a tad cold, the sun-loungers came with very deep, made for relaxing, upholstered cushions.
As has been said previously, Parga truly is a hidden gem and well worth a visit. Now we have the Hotel Sol, we can appreciate it to the full and probably a lot more often.
For our Silver Wedding we captured the prefect evening; sipping wine in the early evening sun on the hotel's terrace, walking into town for a superb steak & salad dinner (we opted for To Souli), strolling aimlessly around the tiny streets and finishing off with a coffee and a night cap in a sea facing bar.
Whenever you visit Parga, you won't better the Hotel Sol.
