Are you currently looking for some panic therapy but don't actually know where to look and what to choose.
Well, there's been a debate on what the best way to treat a condition like panic attacks really is and whether it is possible to treat general anxiety disorders with medication.
Medication can work on specific cases only. If you suffer from mild anxiety and panic attacks a couple of anti anxiety pills can do the trick once in a while but if you have been suffering from severe forms of anxiety disorders, medication is not what you should be looking for.
This is why I have called this article is the big medication lie.
Indeed, people are given all sorts of drugs that have heavy side effects and only relieve the symptoms for a short while. For instance, let's take benzodiazepines which are a class of anti-anxiety drugs which are given to more and more patients every year to allegedly treat the panic disorder.
Well, what is wrong with this is that first of all it isn't going to treat or cure your anxiety disorder because you are in fact the only person able to control the symptoms and then learn how to train your brain to experience fewer and fewer anxiety episodes.
Besides, benzodiazepines are dangerously addictive. At some point during the course of the treatment you will find that one or two pills a day on are not enough and you will start abusing medication without even realising it. This is the big drama behind prescription medicine for anxiety disorders.
Instead of struggling with all sorts of chemicals, I would advise you to have a look at alternative therapies which work really well and don't produce any side-effects.
Cognitive behavioural therapy for instance is a very good treatment. You learn how your brain works and how it is possible you control panic attacks through the power of your own mind. Isn't this fantastic?
Of course, it does take a little bit of time but what doesn't?
Some self-help books as well as online programs dedicated to general anxiety disorders are available everywhere and can help you understand the mechanism of anxiety in order to learn how to get rid of the condition the good without having to resort to heavy medication.
So, as a conclusion I still believe that medication should be given in the most extreme cases but that panic therapy is not out of reach and can help you get your life back on track sooner than you think.
