Grind the Rabbit is one of the Characters from the Roadkill Toys Collection, Analternative designer toy boutique that was set up in the UK back in 2005 although be warned these are not the kind of toys that you want to be giving your children, if its something cute and cuddly that you are after then these toys are definitely not for you.
Designed for those with a sense of humor all of these toys have a macabre twist to them (for those of you unsure of what macabre means it's basically toys that represent the grimmer aspect of death, toys which have a gory, gruesome side to them) although at Roadkill Toys they prefer to refer to this as squash plush, a perfect fitting as each of their original toy characters from the collection have all literally been run over and squashed.
Grind was born the 3rd August 2003, He met his tragic death on 3rd June 2007 at the age of 4.The incident occured on the A34 Southbound when he was just taking a casual hop, a favourite pass time of his but unfortunately his casual hop found him being literally flattened by a Skandia Juggernaut, He leaves behind 678 of his remaining relatives
This Squash plush toy measures in at 30cms from the tip of his nose to his outstreched back poors and 12.5cms at the widest part of his splayed out body. If you want to include the ears you can easily add an additional 5 inches which I think this rabbit would like you to do as it seems amongst his 211 brothers and sisters Grind was in fact the runt of the litter
The material used for Grinds body gives him a rough and ragged fur like quality, a realistic mangy fur look of an animal thats been dragged under the wheels of a juggernaut.
The body itself contains a combination of stuffing which helps to give it that realistic squidgy feel and beads which helps to give the toy a little bit of added weight which helps to weighs him down and make it look like he is realistically splayed out or should that be squashed!
The Expression on this rabbits face resembles that on a stunned rabbit in headlights which is fitting for the way in which he met his end,Streaked across Grinds back is a tyre print gives a clue to this little rabbits demise. His right eye bulges out from his head all blood shot where the other is closed shut.out and his tongue lolls out from his mouth. To each of his sides you will find that there is a zip which once undone allows you to disembowel this poor little rabbit making him look like a true piece of Juggernaut RoadKill.
The internal blood and guts are made using a high tech stuffing and plush which gives it a more realistic squidgy feel to it and on his underside you will find an embroidered red blood splat and a couple of embroided white organs as if you are looking into the carcass of his body.
Something which I find quiet quirky about this Squash Plush range is that each toy comes in their very own little translucent zip up plastic bodybag. Grind fits snugly into the bodybag and the fact that its translucent means that you can see the carnage inside before you even open it, Although thankfully it comes without the smell of death when you do get around to opening it!!!
Each toy also comes with its own personalised brown toetag with details of the characters demise and a certified Death ceritficate which has been signed by a doctor.
