subject: Tips To Get A Bilingual Or Spanish Job [print this page]

If you are looking for a job, these three easy tips will help you find a great bilingual or spanish job sooner than you think.

1)Practice!

If you were lucky enough to have a multicultural family in which you grew up using an additional language then you are lucky! You can still practice with your relatives at home on a daily basis and it is for free!

On the other hand, if you learned an additional language in the classroom or in an exchange in a foreign country, inlcude that in your resume. It shows you had the courage and dedication to spend hours every week and month to learn something new and that you care about your personal and professional development.

Either way, constant practice is very important! It makes you more confident, helps you be more fluent and natural and facilitates that you learn new words.

2) Be honest and specific in your resume.

Apart from adding the languages you know, specify whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced speaker. Keep in mind that, when you are looking for a job, honesty is the best policy; if they are asking for a fluent speaker, it's because they really need one, so do not exaggerate your skills. Sooner or later they would find that out, so if you are not fluent, you could spend that time looking for a job for which an intermediate level is enough.

3) Certify Your Language Skills.

Language certificates help you prove that you can speak, understand, read and write a language. These are standardized and administered by serious institutions, so they add more credibility to any resume, while giving employers the possibility to compare candidates and determine whether they really know the language. Some are good for a few years while others are permanent so it is a good idea to write them whenever you can, in case that the ideal bilingual job presents itself in the months to come.

Good luck/Buena Suerte/Bonne Chance!
