Those visiting New York this holiday season who wish to stay at a green hotel are in luck. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced the opening of the Element New York Times Square West, which is touted as one of the greenest properties in the city.
The hotel features seven suites and 411 guest rooms as well as two meeting rooms and a rooftop terrace for a panoramic view of the city. The Element hotel brand has earned the reputation for pushing the green envelope.
All Element properties, which are high-performance buildings with a focus on waste reduction and resource conservation, must pursue LEED certification. The hotel's carpets, floors and furniture are comprised of recycled content. Low-VOC paints were used throughout the hotel.
Additionally, the hotel uses Energy Star-rated appliances. The hotel combines eco-sensibilities with innovative and modern design components and have a presence in Dallas, Denver, Baltimore and Las Vegas, among other major American cities.

"Our guests will be able to recharge and be at their best during their stay in New York City, while enjoying easy access to the businesses and attractions in the heart of Manhattan."
