subject: India, A United Nation With Diversity In Everything [print this page]

India, the only country in the world to have so many languages, that if you try to learn all of them, one life will fall short. The only country in the world to have so many diversities in weather, culture, fashion and everything else that comes in different flavors. Even then, it is the largest democracy in the world. That is what they call, unity in diversity. But, after all this diversity, there is something which is common in all of Indians, which binds them together. They all have a heart to help, a taste for good food, a faith in the supreme. There is also a great respect for social and ethical values, and that is what puts them apart from other cultures and civilizations of the world.

Indians are known for their customs. Though they live in different geographical regions and have cultural diversity, but one thing is common all over the country. It is Indian customs. They believe in family values, and bond good with all the members of the family. Though modernization has taken a great leap forward, the joint families can still be seen in some part of the country. They all treat their guests as God, and give them utter respect, for they say Atithi devo bhav, which means guest is God.

As it is called the land of God, because their legendary epics depict that, God incarnated himself in this country. So, every place where there is single sign of it they have built temples. And rarely any state of the country is untouched from this. From deep down south to top in north there are pilgrimage places and every year millions of pilgrims go to these places. And these places and temple shows the epitome of Indian crafts. The art of making these temples shows how developed there techniques were, even thousands of year ago. If you are traveling in India you will face these places everywhere.

One more thing which is common in all Indians is a tongue for taste. Indian cuisine which is best known because of spices is now world famous. All over the country there are varieties in food just like other things and just like other things spice is common in all of them. Indian cookery is peculiar for those not acquainted with it. They do not just eat to meet the need of vitamins and protein, taste is equally important. The food will be equally tasty irrespective of whether it was made via microwave cooking or by simple wooden sticks. Microwave recipes are taking over but the traditional ways of cooking are still there.

All in all, this diversity, yet integrity makes people come here again and again.
