subject: A Review Of The Brilliant Htc 7 Mozart [print this page]

Of the current batch of Windows 7 mobile handsets that have entered the market place in the last month, the HTC 7 Mozart seems to be the pick of the bunch thanks to not only the ever impressive HTC build quality but also some great in built media features.

The HTC 7 Mozart features a high quality 3.7" display, smaller than the companies other model the HD7, but still generally a good size in terms of the whole smartphone market. The handset makes the best use of this LCD display by offering a great 480 x 800 resolution which really does a great job of producing images that are full of life and colour. As you would expect the screen is a capacitive touch panel, with he result being great responsiveness. Behind the screen the customary array of sensors can be found. These include an accelerometer which performs auto rotate functions and a proximity sensor which locks the touch sensitive panel during a call. The overall body of the Mozart measures 119 x 60.2 x 11.9mm and benefits from a great looking aluminium finish that add both a touch of class and durability to the overall design. This metallic finish is broken up on the back panel of the device by rubberised parts at the top and bottom, helping aide holding the phone and making it a very comfortable experience. The phone comes with a 1300mAh battery which is ample considering the relatively smaller size of the device screen. With 3G facilities switched on, this should offer around 6.75 hours of talktime or about 360 hours in standby.

One area where the HTC 7 Mozart stands out from its peers if with regards to its camera facility. Whereas most Windows 7 handsets are offering a reasonable 5 mega pixel camera, this model ups the ante by giving us an 8 mega pixel snapper. Thus the resulting picture quality is superb. Accompanying this facility is a Xenon flash which does an impressive job of improving shots where lighting conditions are less than ideal. Going hand in hand with such good still shot facilities is the 720P HD video capture, giving users the benefit of glorious high definition for their own movies. Like other handsets running on this OS, the Mozart is limited to just 8GB of internal memory with no potential for expansion as there is no micro SD card slot available. Whereas this should prove plenty for the avaerage user, those who are looking to store lots of music or use the phone for a lot of video capture may find this figure a little limited.

Looking at the range of Windows 7 handsets currently available, the Mozart seems the most well equipped for the demands of the modern market. Great design, a brilliant camera and high quality screen combine to make this a very attractive mobile package.
