Reflection (not just the kind that shows you the new laugh lines you've gained) is so valuable because it provides an image that changes depending on where your perspective is - allowing you to see things from several viewpoints and with potentially different angles and results.Hindsight to me seems very one-dimensional and only allows you one point of view, which is very limiting.It's that time of year when we go hurtling headlong into Christmas and Holidays and our pace seems to speed up the more the year winds down. Right about now reflection often gets relegated to the back of the cupboard along with out of season clothes and Christmas lights that no longer work; but it's actually the time we should be using it for our benefit.Most of us wait until New Year's Eve to make our resolutions about what we want to achieve in a new year, but because many of these are made in haste on the basis of what we think we should do, rather than what we really want to do, they rarely last a week (especially if they involve giving up chocolate hey girls? Just sharing from experience...)I had a situation recently where my business partner and I were asked to reflect on where our business started and how far it had come to this point. The reflection was important because it went hand in hand with defining where we wanted it to grow for the next year.The most liberating thing about our reflection and planning was that we were asked to look back as to why we began the business and how our plans had changed over this year in order to redefine its core, its structure and our roles in it with POSITIVITY for next year and up to the next five years.So often reflection and hindsight go hand in hand with what we could or should have done better, but most of us already dwell on the negatives that happen to us anyway.
