Dell laptops are divided into 4 categories, the Inspiron, Precision, Latitude and the XPS series. Each of them have been designed keeping specific kind of users in mind, the Inspiron is an average use laptop, the Precision is more like a workstation, the Latitude has been optimized for business , and the XPS series of Laptops are intended to be more or less like desktop replacements. Dell has recently launched 5 new laptops in India which include the Dell Inspiron 13R, 14R, 15R, 17R and M501R.
The R in these series of Laptops stands for the option of more customization options than the other models. The new 13R, 14R, 15R, and 17R series of Dell laptops are now powered by the new Intel Core i3 or Core i5 processors. The Dell Inspiron 13R, 14R, 15R and 17R models now come with 13.3, 14, 15.6 and 17.3-inch displays respectively, which are powered by Intel HD graphics by default and for more power they offer Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5470 1GB graphics as options.
They also come with the option of pre installed Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate, all of which are 64-bit versions. They can support up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and for storage can have hard drives with capacities of 500GB or 640GB 5400rpm. One of the most interesting models in this series of laptops is the Dell Inspiron M501R which is now powered by the new AMD Phenom II X4 mobile processors.
The new AMD Phenom II X4 mobile series CPUs are all going to be quad-core processors which will operate at 1.8 GHz HT link, and will have 4x 512 KB L2 Cache, which will be fitted on Socket S1g4 and there will be 3 other models available.
