subject: 4 Simple Woodworking Ideas For Home [print this page]

I don't know about you, but I love having ideas to get started on a project. This is above all true when I try to do something creative - like woodwork. This article will share with you 5 woodworking ideas to get your creativity on a # of useful & practical projects that you can easily build home.

Idea one - Bird Feeder.

We all want to see birds in our yards or gardens & 1 of the best ways to encourage them to provide food in a safe place for them. I am sure you are like me, can quickly & easily knock up a simple bird feeder without much thought. Consider yourselves how you could make it more ornate or more convenient for birds. Maybe you include bars spaced close together so that only small birds can get in & the food isn't all stolen by pigeons!

Idea two - Bird House.

Following the bird feeder idea, why not give them food & shelter? Bird houses come in all shapes & sizes from simple boxes to the smallest birds to large, ornate dovecote which provides shelter & nesting for an entire loft of pigeons or the flight of pigeons. Remember, this is about getting wood thinking ideas as the obvious & try to find something creative & interesting.

Idea three - Dog House.

Each dog kennel has a tendency to look like any other dog kennel - why do it this way? I declare here & now that it's OK for dogs to live in more interesting homes! If your mind to it, I am sure you can get something for your dog, that is a little different from the norm. Maybe they live indoors as a traditional kennel is redundant, but how about trying to build them something that can serve as something useful for your house? What about a dog house, with shelves above the cargo compartment? Keep thinking outside the box & you'll find a way to use this!

Idea four - Mailbox.

If you look down your street, do you notice that all mailboxes are nearly identical? Why's this? Not Do you want your mailbox to be more individual? Well, if the birds in your garden can have its own penthouse apartment, why should e feel left out? This is another fairly simple project that can be made more interesting & more personalised just using your imagination.

Idea five - The Toolbox.

If you are serious about woodworking, you'll probably have a large selection of tools throughout your workplace. You are probably always looking for tools that you know you again "over there" but can not find. As I got to this point, I designed a simple tool that I could carry around with me who had all the most common tools that I needed readily to hand. Remember, it is your design to keep it simple or make it more complicated - it is up to you. This could be as simple as a large tool chest, or it could be more functional & have 1 or more drawers to store some of your smaller tools. The best tip I can give you is to look for ways to give each tool its own place, like assembling a trim saw inside of the lid.

I hope these suggestions have got you thinking. Remember that your best ideas rarely be your first ideas, so take these five woodworking ideas & spend some time trying to find ways to put them to good use in your workshop.
