subject: Dental Implant For A Better Life [print this page]

Dental implant is a method using which naturally disposed teeth can be restored to the gums using a method of surgery. In this process, artificial teeth are put in place of the broken or missing teeth. The latter takes place generally due to old age but also happens due to tooth decay or bleeding gums. This surgery is a permanent solution to the sudden loss of teeth or even a back up for the certain application of crowns, enamel shaping done by a method of bleaching, bonding and also keeping a support of porcelain veneers.

This dental surgery undertakes a lot of mechanisms and is quite a difficult process. It is also a very long drawn and involves meticulous work which has to be done carefully step by step. There has to be a certain time frame that is required to carry out the whole surgery in a very hygienic and proper way. Steps are to be taken to divide the whole surgery in a systematic manner. It should also be kept in mind that the surgery is not 100% full proof as it depends mainly on the strength of the tissues of the host, and this might be either of the tooth or the gums on which the implantation has to be done.

The surgical process is such thatin the beginning, the affected area of the gum would be pulled up by the orthodontist and a titanium implant is fitted properly into the socket which is lastly, stitched to the implant back with the decaying gum. After this procedure is completed, a gap of around six weeks or a few months is given to let the jawbone heal on its own. During this period the bone tissue is allowed to heal as well. At this point of time, certain dentures or teeth bridges are given to the teeth implanted as a sort of support. This step, to complete, again takes around two months to come into structure.

The dental implant surgery can support only a single crown, i.e., only a single affected tooth at a time. On the whole, it can support a maximum of six implants and not more. Heavy smoking, improper care of teeth, old age, bleeding gums all require, after the apt solution and examination from dentists, dental implant surgery.

Dentals implants last over thirty years at a stretch and are quite cost effective. The dentist is always to be consulted for the right amount of tests to be undertaken and the requirements needed for one's specific problem. This a very attractive way to get back the ever-desired smile all in a cost-effective yet in a minimally painful manner!
