subject: Peugeot Ion- An Instant Hit [print this page] Peugeot announced its leasing prices for the all electric Peugeot iOn in the summer, since then many companies have shown interest in converting their fleets to electric power. With consumers much more concerned with the environment and harmful gases, companies have had to react by promising to reduce their carbon footprints.
A good example of this is UK Grid, they are a small company providing carrier neutral data centres. They currently use Porsches for their urban based drivers; their data centres use enough electricity to power over 4,000 homes for a year. They have pledged to be carbon neutral by the end of this year. The small firm is adopting many tactics to help it meet its aim, one of them being - their own wind farm to generate power; they will also be using the new Peugeot iOn model instead of the Porsches!
The CEO of UK Grid commented, "The Peugeot range has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years and I believe 100 per cent that small, efficient cars like the Peugeot iOn are the way to go for a business like ours."
Another example of a company embracing electric vehicles is Tube Lines, which is owned by Transport For London (TFL). Tube lines are responsible for emergency support and general maintenance of the tube network in and around London. Inspired by Boris Johnsons vision for a greener London Tube Lines are currently evaluating the electric iOn. Phil Constable, Head of Specialist Services explained "I think the Tube Lines fleet can adapt to using electric vehicles; our engineers do 50-70 miles a week and, given the Peugeot iOn has a range of 93 miles, electric works for us. Besides, we have many facilities around the capital for fast charging."
The uptake of electric vehicles by London based companies means there will be a surge of cars at second hand car dealers in Crawley and other surrounding areas.
