He is supposed to have picked up the ball and ran the full length of the football pitch to reach the goal. This new way of playing became popular among other Rugby School boys, and soon became a recognized sport.
There are a number of different techniques involved in rugby and as a game that is both slow and fast paced, it involves a lot of stamina and skill, and therefore plenty of practise.
There are many aids available on the market to help with practise and training, the main two being the wedge hit shield and the tackle bag. Each helps team members improve different aspects of tackling and scrumming and can be used along side fitness training.
The wedge hit shield is used when training to improve rucking, driving and mauling. The trainer will hold the shield with the straps on the rear while team members take it in turns to run at the shield and attempt to drive back the trainer.
The tackle bag can be used during training to improve positioning during tackling. The training aid is usually held by the trainer at arm's length while members of the team use gathered momentum to force their shoulder into the tackle bag to knock it over, then wrap their arms around it, while falling to the ground.
These training aids usually come in different sizes and there are various exercises that can be used to get the most out of your equipment. Rugby equipment needs to be very hardwearing and is therefore made from non-rip high performance PVC and stitched with durable bond nylon thread, to create a long lasting product.
