subject: Korean Corsa Designed Tuned For Europe [print this page]

When Vauxhall announced that the new Corsa will be designed and maybe even built in Korea many raised their eyebrows, would a Korean built Corsa be as good as the highly popular existing Corsa? The Corsa is Vauxhalls top selling model; the Insignia is selling well but not as well as the Corsa. One of the concerns many analysts raised was that will the Korean built Corsa be suited for European tastes or not.

In response to these concerns General Motors, Vauxhalls parent firm has promised that the all new Corsas dynamics will be suited to European tastes. GM Europe has suggested that although the Corsa will be built in Korea, the fine tuning will be done in Germany.

The current Corsa model will be given a small refresh and made available for customers in the New Year; the all new Vauxhall Corsa Chester is due by 2015. Vauxhall have pencilled in a few more new small cars to the line up before then, a budget city car is due along with a premium supermini to compete with the BMW Mini.

Changes for the revised Corsa include a wider lower grill, eagle eye headlamps, daytime running lights and extra chrome bits to refresh the look of the current Corsa. The revised Corsa will also have 16-inch alloys on the SE and SXi models, while the VXR model gets new 18-inch allow wheels, inspired by the Insignia VXR.

On the inside the Corsa will have the latest multimedia Touch and Connect technology, based around a five-inch touch-screen display; it controls the sat-nav, CD/tuner, aux-in, USB and Bluetooth phone connectivity.
