subject: Renault Seeks To Simplify Its Range [print this page]

When buying a new car or a used car, buyers are often overwhelmed by the number of manufacturers offering suitable models. Each model often has several trim levels, engine sizes and colour options, making the buying decision even more complicated.

Renault has identified this issue within its customer base and has set about simplifying the decision making options for them. Renaults aim is that from the 4th of January 2011 its customers should be able to understand the car line ups more easily, identify key features for each model and clearly understand the features.

Simplifying the trim levels will help Renault customers select the most appropriate model; it will also help the sales staff to match a trim level quickly to the customers requirements. The core Renault trim levels will be reduced to a maximum of three per model, excluding Renaultsport. The naming and meaning of each trim level will also be standardised throughout the range.

The three trim levels are:

Expression

Dynamique TomTom

GT Line TomTom

The Renaultsport models are unaffected by this change, but every other model in the Renault line up will consist of these 3 trim levels. In total, the number of versions across the Renault car range falls from 227 to 159. Where as previously the Renault Clio in Sussex would have been available in 5 trim levels from January this will be cut down to just three.

The three trim levels offer something different to customers. The Expression becomes the stylish, value-for-money option. The Dynamique TomTom places the emphasis on impressive equipment specification including fully-integrated Carminat TomTom satellite navigation and the sportier, image conscious appeal. GT Line TomTom tops the range, with even greater sportiness and class-leading equipment as well as looks.
