subject: Do Your Prospects Know They Need You? [print this page] Do Your Prospects Know They Need You? Do Your Prospects Know They Need You?
Lately, I've noticed many of the small business owners I meet seem to be running into a similar problem. See if this sounds familiar.
You are skilled and talented professional who offers remarkable services.
Your business has the potential to help people with problems they're facing in their lives.
You're networking diligently around your city and using traditional marketing methods to promote your business.
So what is the problem? Well, your target market simply isn't responsive, is it?
You aren't getting as many customers as you would like. And you are feeling a bit frustrated with the lack of interest in the amazing transformational work you do.
You might be thinking the answer is to continue marketing, persevering to keep pushing and pushing your message out into the universe, hoping your prospective customers will notice.
But that might not be the answer. Even if your niche is well defined and your branding is solid, there is another reason your traditional marketing might be falling flat.
All too often, the problem appears to be that prospects who need you most don't even know they need you. That's right. The people who can be helped by your services have either never heard of this thing you offer, or they've heard of it and they consider it something new and strange.
Your service is cutting edge. Innovative. Exceptional.
What you offer may be considered mainstream in some circles, but the market you're targeting has yet to discover the benefits of your particular type of coaching, consulting, training, or wellness practice.
It's hard enough to sell something to someone looking for what you have to offer. It's nearly impossible to sell to someone who doesn't even know they need you.
So what is the best way to handle this?
Well, if someone doesn't know about something you'd like them to know, teach them about it. You have many platforms available to you to do this. Small business blogging is an ideal way to provide information that educates and informs your target market about your services
Your business blog is a place where you can talk about their pain points, and then describe how your expertise and services can help alleviate that pain. In your small business blog, you can write about various scenarios and difficulties your market faces, and then discuss how you can help them address or solve the problems. Offer suggestions, tell stories, and provide answers.
In fact, I just did that in this article. I discussed a challenge you might be facing as a business owner, and then I explained how business blogging can help you overcome that challenge. And, as you know, this is what I do. I consult with business owners on how to market their services and attract more clients using methods that are new to you.You might not have even known you needed a small business blog until reading my article just now, informing you of the benefits of small business blogging.
So, do your prospects know they need you? If not, start writing to educate them on why, indeed, they do need you.
