Yesterday we reported that Justin Bieber is listed in Twitter top 10 Trends of 2010 and now Justin Bieber joins the Facebook trend of the year list. He made an impact not only on one social networking site but two!
While getting the 8th place in the Twitter trend list, Justin Bieber managed to get a higher listing on Facebook where he managed to get the sixth place. Justin Bieber who is already popular on Facebook last year just continue to build up his popularity throughout this year.
In a blog post, Facebook mentioned that Justin's appearance over at the MTV Video Music Awards back in September had resulted him in getting the most mentions about him through facebook comments.
Adding to that, recently Google and Twitter also mentioned that Justin was one of the most active topics for this year. Its not surprising as there is news about him on the daily basis.
The trend list for Facebook starts off with the acronym HMU which comes in first place, HMU stands for hit me up which is a digital slang for one to get contact with another. Facebook said that the trend started growing sometime back in the mid 2009 and picked up a good pace throughout the year and an increasing rate of 75 percent a month.
The second biggest trend was the chatters about one of the biggest event of the year which was World Cup, where at times it would represented half of the status updates posted over at Facebook which included match scores, opinions and so on.
Talk about this year's big movies which includes "Toy Story 3," "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," "Inception," "Alice in Wonderland" and "Iron Man 2" was third on the list, the iPad and iPhone 4 were fourth, Haiti was fifth, online games such as FarmVille were seventh, and the Chilean miners were eighth.
"Airplanes" was the ninth biggest topic, mostly because of the B.o.B song of the same name. Facebook users were fond of quoting the lines: "Can we pretend that airplanes/In the night sky/Are like shooting stars?"
And the 10th biggest trend was talk about 2011 and the year ahead.
