Both men and women fall into the fashion mistake of wearing the wrong colour for their skin and hair tone. It is an easy mistake to make, and often arises from trying to emulate other peoples fashion styles, what looks good on your idol/friend/model, will not necessarily suit you. When choosing colours experiment by trying clothes on in the shop, ask the advice of sales staff or friends if you are unsure whether the colour suits.

The colour that suits everyone is black, so you will never go wrong when wearing clothes in this colour. However, wearing all black is odd, and outfits must have some contrast. Pink is generally ok for most people, but depends on shade, lighter complexions can wear bright pinks, and darker shades should stick to powder or baby pink.

With fair skin, wear colours that are bright and contrast with skin tone. Avoid pastel colours, but opt for bold primary colours.

With medium skin tone, avoid yellow and green, but all other colours are fine as long as they are bold beige and white are also great for you.

With darker skin tones, practically any colour looks great, but avoid shades that are too dark or bright.

Wearing the right colour tights:

When buying tights, make sure that they match the colour of your shoes and the hem of your dress/skirt. If you are wearing two different colours, match the tights to the shoes, rather than the skirt.

Size:

Fitted clothes are always the best, and fortunately, womens fashion trends always favour great cuts. However, many people try to squeeze into sizes that are too small, or prefer a baggy look. When buying clothes, try them on, a correct fit will sit against the skin, but not feel too tight.

Old Shoes:

Shoes, although not the most important part of an outfit, do have an important role in women's fashion; the wrong shoes can ruin a look. And, this is particularly true of tatty shoes, you may be wearing the most sophisticated and stylish clothes, but add a rundown pair of shoes and you will create the opposite impression. When buying shoes, always make sure that you choose quality over price.

Flashing Underwear:

OK, so this is a trend much loved by certain celebrities, but the look is not great. Many women find that this mistake unintentionally happens from time to time. However, there are ways to prevent this happening. Firstly, make sure that you buy the cut of underwear that suits your body shape, you may want to wear the latest fashions, but if they are unsuitable, it is best to avoid them. Next, make sure that you purchase colours that match those in your wardrobe, that way, if a wardrobe malfunction occurs, it will be less obvious.
