La Joya - An Upscale Conscientious Eco-Village Community
La Joya- The Jewel of Nicaragua. La Joya is a budding upscale Eco-Community on beautiful and pristine Lake Nicaragua. Its over 100 lush acres boast enchanting views of Ometepe Island, a "New 7 Wonders of Nature' nominee. The twin peaks of the Maderas and Concepcion volcanoes rising out of Lake Nicaragua create a powerful yet serene environment that supports your tranquil and natural lifestyle.
La Joya is first and foremost committed to responsible, sustainable and self-sufficient living. The community masterplan for the lakefront side includes: nice beach and boardwalk for bathing in and enjoying the warm and healing waters of Lake Nicaragua, a Live-Food, vegan and healthy food cafe & eco-lodging cabinas, an open air market and gathering place for organic and local goods, Sanctuary for yoga and meditation, colonial style town square and a few choice lots for small homes or casitas.
For the past 2 years, La Joya Eco-Community has sponsored a girls orphanage in Granada, bringing them clothes, shoes, supplies, financial assistance, and lots of love. During the last 2 years, the 16 girls we first met has now expanded to 24 girls. They, along with the nuns who care for them, were all living in a home that was entirely too small to house that many people. The head nun decided that they must make the hard decision to move into the larger home they have been building, through the generous donations of others, before the construction was complete and without the funds to complete the home, hoping that things would fall into place for them by doing so.
We just so happened to come visit them on the day they moved into their home.
They have asked us to help them finish the construction. We promised them that we would do everything in our power to ensure a proper home for all of these beautiful girls.
