Good Eyes, Better View

Our eyesight provides us with the ability to see people and our environment. It also aids when we read or write. There are people, however, who are not equipped with good eyesight. Poor eyesight might be due to genetics or bad practices.

In order to maintain good eyesight, one must be aware of the healthy food that he or she has to eat. Vitamin A, also known as retinol, is a good protector of the eyes. This vitamin enhances the mucous secretion not only of the eyes, but of other body parts as well. These lubricants that vitamin A enhances are not just any other mucous; they protect our eyes from dust and other harmful particles. Oat meals are also rich in Vitamin A, as well as liver, carrots, pumpkin, and spinach.

Vitamin A is not the only vitamin or mineral that can be found in these foods. There are also other vitamins and minerals present in them. Watermelons, for instance, are rich in potassium, vitamin A, vitamin C, thiamin, riboflavin, and niacin.

There are different foods that contain a combination of vitamins and minerals that help us protect our teeth. However, there are some foods that are quite harmful to our bodies. Junk foods are foods that contain little or no nutrients that can help us protect our eyes.

We can also protect our eyes from acquiring serious eye diseases by wearing prescription safety eyeglasses. Major eye problems can be avoided by visiting an optometrist or ophthalmologist and the proper wearing of eyeglasses. These glasses can also help correct minor eye issues like nearsightedness, farsightedness and other eye defects that do not require eye surgery or operation.

People who regularly engage in close work can damage their eyes in the process. Studies show that near work like reading and computer usage can threaten our eyes. Another factor in acquiring eye problems is a person's genetics. Scientists have found that our genes can cause us to have eye defects. With these types of deficiencies, doctors recommend the usage of prescription safety eyewear.

By wearing prescription safety eyeglasses, a person decreases the odds of getting his or her eyes harmed. We must keep in mind that taking care of our eyes would be worth it as we grow old. Don't wait until you start losing your vision permanently before submitting to the safety measures.
