subject: 3 Proven Ways To Improve Your Sales Letter Conversion [print this page]

Do you have a product that you are desperately trying to sell, have no trouble generating the traffic, but have absolutely no idea how to increase your sales letter conversion when those visitors arrive? This is a question that I see asked several times over and over again, and when I get a chance to check these sales letters in question, there are a few things that come up time and time again that I just can't help but demystify here for you today. Here are the top three techniques that I can help you with.

Address Your Markets Desire

Before writing any kind of sales copy, you first need to ask yourself what exactly it is that pains your target audience. What is it that they would love to achieve? What is their problem that they need addressed? What are they sick of? And most importantly, at that very moment that they arrive on your website, what is it that they want more than anything in the world?

One of the best techniques that I personally use is to create a big headline at the top of the sales letter addressing the problem. A great example of this for a link building course may be, "Are you sick of trying to build backlinks every single day, and getting absolutely no result for the time that you are investing?". With that headline, you can see that I am addressing what it is that pains my target.

You can also be quite crafty and insert a solution in your headline. An example of this may be, "I am going to teach you how to waste less time building backlinks that actually stick and rank you number one in Google". In this example, I am addressing the pain of my target market, whilst telling them what it is that I am going to do for them. This technique can be applied in almost any market.

Use Video To Convert

There is absolutely no doubt that video sales letters convert higher than any other sales letter. Why is this? Because it is personal. Because in a video, you actually hear a voice, you might even see a face, and lets face it, it is just fun to watch video.

Using video, you can also get creative through the use of graphics and keynotes t demonstrate features and benefits of what it is that you are selling. This has proven over the years to be a top notch sales letter conversion technique, I personally use video in each of my sales letters.

Speak, Don't Sell Through Copy

Bad copy doesn't sell, because bad copy in most cases will address your own personal need, which in most cases is to make as much cash as possible. This is not what makes people buy. What makes people buy is when you understand their problem, their need, their desire, and when you have nothing less than a desire to help them surpass their problem and their pain.

The highest selling sales letters that I have seen all have one thing in common. They talk about a pain, a need, and a solution to these problems more than they do about price. Think about it. When you walk into a store, if you are harassed by a shopkeeper who is obviously wanting nothing more than a sale from you, what are the first words that come out of your mouth. "Sorry, I'm just looking". People don't say this online though, they just use the back button and look elsewhere for a solution. The key is to hold them on your sales letter because you know and understand their problem and need, and you are the most capable person of fixing that problem.

There are many more sales letter conversion techniques, such as split testing and other methods of traffic generation, however, copy is always going to be one of the most important aspects that you are ever going to need to get right. Once you have the copy down, once you understand how to get the attention of your potential customer, then you will have won the battle.
