Blog Commenting: Making it Worth Your While

We all want to build a community around our blog. That is what makes blogging exciting, it not just giving out information, it is sharing it together. Comments is one thing that brings readers together. However, that is not the only purpose of blog commenting, many people use it to promote their blogs.

It is fairly effective when it comes to marketing your blog out there. However there is a catch here, there will always be one! Quality. If you are thinking pasting a thousand useless comments out there will flood your site with traffic, think again. Spam gets deleted faster than you can post it.

Another reason people comment is because they want to build links. The number of dofollow blogs out there has increased and you can build a fair share of links by commenting. You should however avoid spamming. Think about it, you surely wouldn't want somebody doing the same in your site. Again, spamming is what makes webmasters make the few dofollow blogs out there nofollow.

I have outlined a few ways you can get the most out of your blog comments.

Read the post- You need to add value to the conversation. Don't rush to comment and leave a lame 'Great post'. That is surely a great way to start a comment but please say something more. Remember if you possibly want traffic from you comments you must appear like you know what you are doing. People don't click on links for the simple fact that they appear clickable.

Don't look like you are stealing visitors- Come on, that blogger took time to write that post. It must have been good enough to deserve you comment. Now don't look like you are better than him. Give him credit for what he has done. You can suggest something but in a polite manner.

Comment if only you have to- Don't go commenting just because you heard it is a way of generating traffic or getting backlinks. Comment if you have to. Make sure you have read the post and the comments so you make relevant comments.

Avoid links if you must- Unless it adds value to the post, avoid links to other content in the comment. They are considered spam mostly. You can also find out how the blogger feels about that or observe other comments in the blog.

Use you real name- Avoid keywords in the name section. You look like a spammer outright. If you must have keywords make sure they come after your name. For example Alvin@earn money online. Remember the real purpose of a comment is adding your thoughts or your take on the post. Promotion comes second.

Follow this five steps and you will see commenting working for you. It can be a very effective way of generating traffic for your site if done right.
