On Top Of The World With Dubai Hotels
On Top Of The World With Dubai Hotels

Wherever you are in the world, there is an interesting story to that place. While you're on holiday, all the fun you'll be having will probably mean you'll forget to think more about the place. Whether you're staying in Malta, Cyprus or Dubai hotels, there are locations that bear a great significance culturally and historically.

It's not about how old they are though. There are places build recently with an interesting story too. Here are some of our favourites.

Burj Khalifa, Dubai

Since it opened in early 2010, the Burj Jhalifi has been the worlds tallest building. It was a long time in the making though, but the end result has proved it was worth the wait. Foundations for the Burj Khalifa began way back in January 2004, and the construction remained slow but steady throughout.

The amazing thing is that the building kept growing in (planned) size even during the construction, as architects found new ways of adding height to the design,. In total, it took just 1,325 days to complete the Burj Khalifa. Its height is not the only world record it holds. The tower accomplished a world record for the highest installation of an aluminium and glass faade, at a height of 512 metres, 293 times the height of Eiffel Tower in Paris. With restaurants and Dubai hotels in the building, you can make a whole holiday out of a visit here.

Ancient Paphos, Cyprus

Cyprus is a popular with young couples on short breaks and people on honeymoon who go to enjoy the gorgeous beaches and luxury service in Cyprus hotels. But there is a whole other world here ready to be explored.

A must see spot are the mosaics of Paphos, part of a larger archaeological site that includes a theatre and a ruined castle. It will probably take a few hours to make the most of the site. At least it's located Paphos itself near the harbour area, meaning it is easy to get to and from. If you're a bit further out of town though, there are plenty of buses on hand. It is well worth the effort though. The mosaics are stunning, and give a fascinating insight into how people lived hundreds of years ago on the Island.

Hypogeum, Malta

Malta is also a popular beach holiday, but it has it's fair share of historical sights too. The Hypogeum is a must visit attraction for anyone staying in Malta hotels for their holiday. It is a huge underground temple that has remained intact for hundreds of years and it is impossible to describe the scale of it. There is also incredible detail put into the rooms which have been wonderfully preserved during the years. It's a truly awe-inspiring sight, and gives you a clear idea of the civilisations that have risen and fallen for thousands of years on this ancient Island.

80 people are limited to visiting Hypogeum a day in order to keep it preserved, so you will have to book well in advance. But it is well worth the effort.
