Poker Terms Worth Learning

When you enter a casino you will find that the gambling environment there is completely different, compared to the friendly poker games you play at home. You may think that you know all there is to know about poker, as you have practiced it many times outside with your friends and family, but upon entering the casino you will find that what you say will ultimately determine your success at the tables.

We'll start off with the terms before the game starts.

Small blind and big blind - are the two bets which you are forced to fork out when the dealer button is next to your seat and two seats away from you respectively.

Now we'll move on to game play terms.

Check - This is when you are passing your turn without adding in any additional bets.

Fold - This is when you wish to back out from the game, losing whatever you have betted so far.

All-in - This is basically raising the bet with all your remaining chips at the table.

Slow play or trapping - This term is used when a player is tricking another player to bet more because he is very confident in winning that hand.

Rags - This term is used to describe a hand of two cards that rarely hit, like 10 or 7.

Suck out on the river - This is in the event that you do have cards that rarely hit but played them and managed to hit.

There are many terminologies out there, but learning them is quite essential if you wish to be successful at the poker table.
