For Fire Hoses
Storz
Normally used in Germany, these types of hose couplings involve a quarter turn coupling", or "sexless coupling" used for fire hydrants. It is usually easy to connect, with no particular male or female end, it only makes use of lugs inside the coupling.
Nakajima and Machino
These types of hose couplings are normally used in Japan. The Nakajima involves "quarter turn" or "sexless" while Machino makes use of a quick connect and disconnect coupling. Both are also used for fire hoses.
Guillemin symmetrical clutch
Wide known in France and in Belgium by fire fighters, these types of hose adapters involve an end ring with two protuberances outside; when the ring turns, the protuberances lock to the hook of the other hose. It can be fastened by hand or by the use of a tricoise wrench.
For Higher End Pull
Mulconroy/Holedall Swaged Hose Coupling
This type of hose coupling belongs to the family of Holedall hose couplings, which is commonly found on larger diameter hoses used in higher pressure applications or where the hose is exposed to higher end pull. This is installed with special hydraulic ram machinery and special dies.
Holedall IX Internally Expanded Hose Coupling
Simply known as IX, these types of hose couplings are also included into the Holedall family which is used in higher pressure applications, or where the hose is exposed to higher end pull, or where a full flow is required.
Scovill/Rostra
Part of the Holedall family, these types of hose couplings are also used primarily on fuel oil hose applications, where a full flow is required. They are also installed with special hydraulic pull bar machinery using special pull plugs.
