It is every bloggers goal out there to increase their popularity, influence and success with their blogs. Whether you are doing it for cash, for the love of it or best of all, both aiming for the summit is very important.
You realize however, over 200 000 blogs are published everyday. I know how scary to a newbie blogger that is. Imagine how hard it must be to be the best. Having to beat the best to be the best, doesn't seem like a walk in the park.
When it comes to blogging, you can realize success very easily. There can be so many blogs out there but fact is not all of them are in your niche. Not all of them are quality and not many of their authors really care about them or take time to work on them. That is comforting, isn't it?
You however still need to work on your blog if you want to succeed and maybe make money out of it. Blog promotion is very important. If nobody knows your blog exists, you could as well be writing for yourself. There are several avenues you can use to promote it.
Social media- Never underestimate the power of Facebook or Twitter. Some niches can get traffic with a high conversion rate from such sources. For example if you write about fun stuff like jokes, funny stories, it is very easy to promote them as people go to such sites to have fun. Using your profile wall to promote your site will do you no harm. However if you blog about more serious stuff, creating a page for your site would work better. This way, you interact with interested people only
Search Engine Marketing- You can get lots of targeted traffic from the search engines. Whether you go the SEO way and reap free traffic from organic search or use pay per click advertising, this method can be very effective in blog promotion and getting people to visit your site.
Blog Communities- The likes of Mybloglog and Blogged are still very effective when it comes to pitching your blog out there. You get to interact with like minded individuals and share a lot about your sites. A word of advice here, you would do better if you show interest first. Take time to visit other peoples sites, comment and leave them feedback. People have the tendency of showing interest to people who pay attention to them.
This three methods have proved very effective in my blog promotion activities. Use all of them for the best results.
