Mae Hong Son Nightlife: A city that lives by the sun's light

It is safe to say that most of the city's residents and the hillside tribes of Mae Hong Son Province live more by the light of the sun than pursuing the nightlife. Compared to the larger cities of Thailand, there really isn't much of a nightlife to enjoy in Mae Hong Son. You can always inquire with one of the locals or the staff members at your Mae Hong Son hotel for the information regarding things to do in order to enjoy the evening. But be careful, the roosters of the city residents as well as the hillside tribes are sure to wake you up at 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning.

Usually, the nightlife is fairly non-existent except for whenever there are cultural or religious festivals going on at different times of the year. However, there are a few karaoke joints that will suffice where a less crowded and lively evening is concerned. Additionally, you will find a few the open-air restaurants that serve excellent Thai cuisine as well as alcohol. Most of these restaurants also play music while you are dining and drinking.

So if you have travelled to Mae Hong Son in the hopes of having a lively night out on the town, you might be disappointed. Conversely, the Pai District, Mae Hong Son's northernmost district is filled with bars, clubs, and numerous live music venues that might be what you are looking for. Just be aware of the fact that these establishments get very noisy and oftentimes rowdy.
