subject: When you do not know what else to do JUST STAND [print this page] When you do not know what else to do JUST STAND
The scene in the movie Toy Story 3 where the toys are sliding into the furnace and all options seems exhausted. Jessie looks to Buzz and asks "what do we do now". Buzz reaches out his hand and holds Jessie's. The toys all link hands and wait.
They stand together and hold tight.
I was listening to an interesting audio the other day and it talked about when you are going through difficulties in your life that maybe the only option is to stand, JUST STAND. I found this principle reflected in the Toy Story 3 movie.
Buddha teaching includes the fact that nothing is permanent, change is inevitable. This too will pass.
This fact alone, things in this world change, is sometimes a comfort when the road is difficult and arduous.
I have learned that JUST STANDING, is sometimes the best course of action, when the options are limited.
I have found that this allows for the creation of new options to follow, as it did in the movie when the claw reached down and picked the toys up, saving them from obliteration.
This principle can also be applied in your head, as well as in our daily actions. This principle creates space for something that we cannot see, as an option, while it comes into focus. The wait and see advice our Mothers told us when growing up, to settle the impatience of youth.
It is only in my life after much pushing and pulling, after much conflict and confusion, that this motherly advice "wait and see" or JUST STAND can be appreciated for the simplicity and effectiveness that it can bring to a situation could be understood.
I enjoyed this movie and praise the makers again for introducing values to our children lives. The principles and values that this story teaches my family I am grateful for and inspired me.
