Jesus died at the age of 33.More recently N.A.S.A's Pathfinder landed on Mars, location 19.5 N by 33.3 W, on July 4, 1997.So what does the number 33 tell us today, in 2010?Luis Urzua, the 33rd man rescued after 69 days at camp hope in Chile, tells us from every tragedy follows hope as every night follows day. Most importantly it tells us that, no man is an island.Even in this age of ipods, computers, laptops, hardware, software, Microsoft and windows7 our basic instincts remain the same, a need for human touch.No body is born courageous, for courage is fashioned by the hand of adversity. It is the every day trials and tribulations that makes a man.As Edward Vernon Rickenbacker once said, Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. there can be no courage unless you're scared.But just as 33 is the number for arsenic, so is fate's poisonous hand. Today these 33 brave men are heroes and have inspired nations and their names are on everybody's lips.No doubt movies will be made, CD's, DVD's will be distributed and books will be written about them, but in another 69 days only a few will remember their names. Only the tragedy of their story will live on.Why? Because, as Lucius Annaeus Seneca said; sometimes even to live is an act of courage. In other words, each and every moment is a trial. As long as we live, we must face these new challenges. Every one of us, each individual has his/her own mine' to contend with.These 33 had their rescuers, but how many of us are in one pit or another, but have no one to call to. There is no world's media here, Just you.But we can take comfort in one thing, so long as these courageous events live on, so long as hope remains eternal, we will, somehow, trudge on.
