Parking Woes
Parking Woes

My boyfriend and I live in a beautiful apartment community. The surrounding area is nice, and the apartment staff is extremely professional and responsive. So, then what is the problem? The parking is the problem.

From being blocked in in the morning due to someone else illegally parking to not being able to get into my car because someone has literally parked two inches away from my own vehicle, it is enough to drive me crazy. It has also made my dream of one day owning a house with a big driveway something that I am now really driving for. Ah, to not have to worry about where you are going to park at the end of the day...how lovely!

The parking situation where I currently live seems to be this way: Due to the layout of the number of apartments that are housed in the building that I live in as well as the building that is adjacent to it, it has become increasingly obvious that whoever designed the parking lot did not take into account the sheer number of apartments versus the number of parking spaces that were needed. For instance, my boyfriend and I figured out that even if there were two parking spaces allotted for each apartment in the two buildings, there still would not be enough parking. Because I work from home during the day, I often don't get a chance to do my grocery shopping until late at night. However, whenever I leave at night, all of the people who commute to work are now home for the night which means that every single parking space is taken. I know that by the time I have even run out to do a five minute shopping run at night, by the time I get back a short while later, my parking space will be taken.

It has gotten so bad that now people are parking illegally, which means that they are getting in the way of those of us who actually need to get out of our parking space in the morning, and it has led to a number of complaints that have been filed with the management office. As it is, I have now had to park my car a half a mile away from my apartment building- out of sight, which isn't acceptable. While I don't mind the extra exercise, being a female and parking that far away at night is just a little too tempting to someone who may try to do harm.

As a result of all of the complaints, the management at the apartment complex issued a flyer to each resident explaining that they are aware of the parking woes and will be working on a resolution. I have yet to hear about what the resolution will be or when it will take effect, but I am hopeful that things will improve and that the parking won't be so atrocious!
